NFTs as Collateral


At Quanto, we’re pushing the boundaries of what collateral can be. Beyond tokens and stablecoins, you can now use select NFTs as collateral directly on our platform—unlocking new levels of capital efficiency while still holding onto your favorite assets.

How It Works

You can deposit approved NFTs on Quanto and borrow against them at a slightly decreased Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio compared to fungible tokens. This allows you to:

  • Unlock liquidity from your NFTs without selling them.
  • Go long or short on any trading pairs listed on Quanto.
  • Trade with a loan secured by your NFT, expanding your flexibility and capital efficiency.

For example: Instead of letting your Pudgy Penguin or Bored Ape sit idle in your wallet, you can deploy it as collateral and trade with the unlocked value.

Liquidation in the Beta Stage

Currently, in the beta stage, if your account becomes undercollateralized and a liquidation event is triggered, the platform will take ownership of your NFT.

Looking ahead, we’re developing gamified and fairer liquidation mechanics. In future versions, users will be able to buy back their NFT within a set time window after liquidation, creating a more balanced experience. This feature is not available in the beta version.

Supported NFTs

  • At this stage, NFT collateral support is limited to ERC-based NFTs.
  • Only a minimal set of collections are currently supported.
  • Support for NFTs from other chains will be added soon.

⚠️ Important: Only deposit NFTs officially supported by Quanto. Depositing unsupported NFTs may put your assets at risk of permanent loss.

The Future of NFT Collateral

NFTs represent unique digital ownership, and bringing them into the margin trading ecosystem is a natural step forward. By expanding supported collections and adding more user-friendly mechanics, Quanto aims to make NFTs a powerful tool in leveraged trading strategies.
